Liverpool set eyes on Chelsea’s transfer target Wilfried Bony
It appears as if the Merseyside Reds are bent on stealing from the mega-rich Chelsea this fall. Following rumors suggesting a swoop for Daniel Sturridge, Liverpool are now being linked with a move for the talented Wilfried Bony.
Chelsea has been after the highly-rated youngster for a while now. Reportedly, the Champions League winning side are already at the table negotiating a transfer deal with Vitesse Arnhem for Wilfried Bony. The 23-year-old Ivory Coast international has been in fine form in the Eredivisie this season, where he is currently the top goal scorer with 14 goals under his belt.
Wilfried Bony had a trial at Liverpool five years ago, but back then it didn’t work out. As the new Anfield boss Brendan Rodgers hunts for forward in the winter transfer market, Liverpool’s interest in Wilfried Bony has resurfaced.
Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo is keen on signing in the Wilfried Bony. Reports from Stamford Bridge suggest Roberto Di Matteo plans on filling in the void left by Didier Drogba with the help of Wilfried Bony.
The Stamford Bridge boss can sign in Wilfried Bony for a mere £8 million. Wilfried Bony’s cheap buyout clause makes him attractive transfer option in the football market.
“It's not the number one topic for me at the moment, but if they write about me going there, then it's great isn't it? But seriously, if they want me, it would be a great honor. I would be glad to go to such a club,” Wilfried Bony told a Czech media outlet Pravo.
“I love English football and wouldn't be afraid to play there. Chelsea are a top club.
“If Chelsea are interested in the winter and the clubs reach an agreement, then why not? We'll see what happens. At the moment I want to be playing as well as I can for Vitesse.”
Reports in England suggest Brendan Rodgers is ready to hijack Chelsea’s potential transfer for Wilfried Bony. Liverpool has been after Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge as well. The Merseyside outfit is expected to place a bid on Daniel Sturridge next month.
Brendan Rodgers is keen on providing support to Liverpool’s sole striker Luis Suarez. The Uruguayan has been in phenomenal form this season, but is desperate for support in Liverpool’s attack.
Liverpool is also interested in making a swoop for Italy international Giuseppe Rossi. Stewart Downing could be sold in order to make room and free-up funds for the transfer.
