Liverpool star Luis Suarez snubs transfer links with Manchester City
Amid rumors of a possible move away to Manchester City, Luis Suarez stepped in front of the media to pledge his loyalty to Liverpool. Reports from England claim Luis Suarez had one foot out of the door, but Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has convinced the Uruguayan international to believe in the ‘Reds Revolution’.
Liverpool’s official website released an interview of Luis Suarez on Thursday. In the interview the in-form striker stressed his commitment to Liverpool and snubbed links to Manchester City. The Eastlands boss Roberto Mancini has plans of strengthening Manchester City’s attack during the summer transfer window. Manchester City has been linked to world class strikers such as Edinson Cavani, Radamel Falcao and Robert Lewandowski this year.
Reports on Thursday suggested the Premier League champions Manchester City were tabling a £40 million bid on Luis Suarez. These reports were quickly denied by Brendan Rodgers and later by Luis Suarez.
Luis Suarez claims his intention is to complete his contract with Liverpool, which still has five years on it. Luis Suarez has attracted a lot of interest from top notch European clubs due to his spectacular form this season. The 25-year-old forward has scored 11 goals and provided four assists in 16 appearances for Liverpool this season.
“I have a very long contract here and it's a dream come true to be playing at a club like Liverpool because, as I've said, as a boy I dreamt of playing for a team like this,” Luis Suarez said in the interview to Liverpool’s official website.
“Now I'm here, it's all about enjoying myself and trying to be here for as many years as I can, because I'm at a club where I'm very happy, my family is happy, I've got fantastic teammates and a manager from whom I'm learning so much.”
Liverpool kicked-off their comeback season with unfortunate results. Currently, Liverpool lies 13th in the Premier League table with just two wins from 11 games. Luis Suarez claims Liverpool’s fate will turnaround this weekend when the Reds face Wigan Athletic.
“Wigan is an absolute must-win fixture,” Luis Suarez said. “It's a very important game for us to gain in confidence for the matches ahead and to get stronger here at Anfield, which is where we need to make the difference.”
“Let's hope we can keep improving. I'm working well and I'm very happy at a club where I've always wanted to be. At a club to whom I'm very grateful for the trust everyone is showing in me - a club with amazing supporters and teammates who are all great people.
“The other important thing is that the squad is very united. In spite of not getting the results we would have liked, we have a great spirit of togetherness and let's hope we can continue to pick up points.”
