Rarely, if ever, has a player come out of nowhere to win the Heisman Trophy. Past winners have left an indelible mark on voters during the previous season much like Darren McFadden and Tim Tebow did last year. With that in mind, we're already very familiar with next year's favorites:Top 5
(Assuming Pro: Darren McFadden, Felix Jones, DeSean Jackson, Kevin Smith, Jonathon Stewart, Ray Rice)
Tim Tebow - I have a hard time thinking he'll join Archie Griffin among the two-time winners, but why not? The Gators will have a better team and I see no reason he won't duplicate his 20/20 performance.
Knowshon Moreno - With the class barrier being broke tonight (we assume) it could be a second straight sophomore. Like Florida, the Bulldogs should be even more improved which only helps his case if Georgia can play a 13th game to pad his stats and face time. More touches equal more speculate highlights for an electric back.
Pat White - It's still a surprise to me that White isn't one of the Heisman finalists. The Mountaineers lost the two games in which he was injured, so apparently Pat just needs to stay healthy and he'll be in the mix. No team has shown an ability to stop him. Could be hurt by Slaton and Devine's exploits.
Chase Daniel - If Missouri can repeat their success, no sure bet with Oklahoma even better, Daniel will definitely make his way back to New York.
Sam Bradford - I like the Sooners as an early pick to play in the BCS Championship game and if that's the case, Bradford could be the second straight sophomore QB to win the award. DeMarco Murray could steal some of the spotlight.
Next 5 - Need to make an early splash or big bowl game
Jeremy Maclin - It's rare for a wide receiver to even become a finalists, but Maclin could have the Tim Brown, Desmond Howard special teams splash to get voters attention. Receiving numbers should improve next year as well with some graduations.
Chris Wells - The Buckeyes will be Big Ten favorites again, and Wells will carry the load.
Rashard Mendenhall - Now that the Illini have everyone's attention, Rashard could duplicate his numbers from this season and likely become a finalist with a Big Ten title.
Graham Harrell - For whatever reason voters were impressed with Colt Brennan's numbers, but not Harrell who were larger and against better competition. Should put up equally astonishing numbers, and if Texas Tech can win a few more games he's easily in the mix.
LeSean McCoy - Probably more of a long shot, but she be in enough SportsCenter Top 10 plays next year to make up for what will be at least a 4-loss Panthers team. Wouldn't be surprised if he led the nation in rushing.
Others: Colt McCoy, P.J. Hill, Ryan Perrilloux, C.J. Spiller, Todd Boeckman, Jamaal Charles, Percy Harvin.
