The Los Angeles Dodgers had been rumored to be in the mix for many different deals heading into today's trade deadline and they made a big splash this morning by acquiring a new leadoff hitter from the Philadelphia Phillies -- the big time sellers of the deadline. Shane Victorino is now a Dodger.

LA has given up pitchers Josh Lindblom and Ethan Martin in return for a two-month rental of Victorino. Shane is batting only .261 with 9 homeruns and 40 RBI, however, he also has stolen 24 bases. He will give them a legitimate threat at the top of the order, even when Dee Gordon returns from the DL.

Fielding-US PRESSWIREVictorino has playoff experience, a World Series ring and will only provide a stabilizing presence in the dugout for a team looking t overtake their division. Their rival, San Francisco Giants have traded for utility infielder, Marco Scutaro and have been linked to Phillies OF Hunter Pence, but have thus far not made the move.

The Dodgers lineup now looks very solid with Victorino at the top and Matt Kemp, Andre Ethier and Hanley Ramirez backing him up.

And they just might not be done dealing...more to come.
