The organization has hired Davis Payne to be assistant coach behind Darryl Sutter. Payne was the coach on the St. Louis Blues until November of last year. He was let go, and the team was swept by his current employers.

Once the Kings' previous asst. coach Jamie Kompon left the team, Sutter said that Payne was at the top of his list of people he wanted to fill the spot. The head coach likes that Payne is young but experienced.

John Stevens, the Kings' other asst. coach will also be returning next season .

Coach Sutter definitely proved himself, so if he wants a guy, it's safe to assume he's got some good reasons, and it's good to see him get his man. It's also nice to see the organization show support and give Sutter the staff  he wants.
