Los Angeles Kings Nominated for 'Best Team' ESPY
Downing the top-seeded Vancouver Canucks in five, the second-seeded St. Louis Blues in four, the third-seed Phoenix Coyotes in five was nothing short of remarkable. They had not lost a road game through the first three rounds and finished 10-1 on their opponents ice after taking two of three in New Jersey during the final round.
Dustin Brown, the captain and leader of the Kings squad, is a perfect example of why this team should be granted the 'Best Team' award as he completely held his emotions in check throughout the postseason run, not satisfied with anything until they were raising the cup in front of their home fans. The entire team took on this persona and it allowed them to remain confident and hungry through their title run.
Goaltender Jonathan Quick took home the Conn Smythe trophy for MVP of the postseason and it was well deserved as his presence in goal allowed for the Kings to have an above average chance at victory every night. He was completely dominant in goal with minimal error and it would be a travesty, a sham, well, a traveshamockery if the Kings were not on stage accepting the award amongst their peers.
The Eighth-seeded Stanley Cup Champs will have their next award and be recognized in front of a large television audience as well as their athletic peers for their achievement.
