Conn Smythe winner, Justin Williams, opened the scoring in the first period, and the teams went to the change rooms with the Kings in the lead 1-0.
The Rangers tied it up with the Chris Kreider's goal in the second period, but the Kings pulled ahead again, with 30 seconds left in the period, on a short handed goal by Brian Boyle.
The only goal in the third period was a Power Play goal, scored by Marion Gaborik, tying the game at 2. At the end of three regulation periods, the two teams headed to OT, much as they had done in previous games. In fact, the Kings have needed seven games in all of the playoff series, except for the last. They've come from behind constantly, never giving up. It took 26 playoff games for the Kings to win the Cup, but they did it.
Congratulations Kings. You deserve it.
