Sylvanie-USA TODAY SportsDarius Johnson-Odom traveled to China with the Los Angeles Lakers last week, but after arriving, the team informed the young player that he was cut from the team.

Typically, the team would have waited until arriving back in America to cut him loose, but DJO had been mulling over a $400,000 deal with a Chinese team for about a week. While they were overseas, the Lakers let DJO know that they were likely going to cut him, and he went ahead and took the deal, since he was already over there.

The Lakers are paring down their roster, and Johnson-Odom didn’t get much playing time to show the coaches what he’s got. He was also cut from the Lakers’ roster last year after they drafted him.
