Alternate title: How Mitch Kupchak got his groove back.
The Los Angeles Lakers took a hit when their brand power wasn’t enough to keep Dwight Howard on the team, but they got some of that back with their latest hiring.
Nick Young has signed with the Lakers for the veterans minimum of just over $1.1 million. It was reported on ESPNLA710 that he had other, bigger deals on the table, however, Young is an LA kid and his dream has been to play for the Lakers. His agent said:
"It's great for Nick and great for the Lakers. He could've waited and got more money in the free-agent market but his dream has always been to play for the Lakers."
As for Kupchak, he said:
"At 6'7", Nick's size, ability to create his own shot and athleticism make him a versatile player who will give our lineup multiple looks on the floor. He's an exciting player, and we're excited to have him on our roster."
Last season, Young averaged 10.6 pts, 1.4 assists and 2.2 rebounds.
