Sadly, there was no Lou Holtz pep talk this evening. Was there any sort of warning or announcement that I completely missed? They just can't abruptly take away my non-The Office Thursday night highlight like that.
Perhaps, after Lou found a way to give the #1 team the kiss of death valley ... and after giving only 1 winning pep talk all season, did ESPN ax the Thursday night halftime speech?
To hold you over, here's a fake (clearly) version of his LSU pep talk last week.
Come back Lou! I suggest you give the Buckeyes some fightin' words. Please.
I think ESPN spent all week vigorously researching what game Lou couldn't get wrong, and realized that LSU can't overcome a Lou Holtz Pep talk then no one can.
I was looking forward to either his pep talk to Kentucky about trying to follow up a big win with another or to Ohio St trying to downplay the fact that all the teams are getting upset this year and it being the it won't happen to us at Ohio St., but it just won't be. I personally was scared to death that he might give one to Oklahoma.
I just figured ESPN would pick a team they want in the title game like, say USC, then give pep talks to either their opponent that week or to a team ranked ahead of them.
I'm just glad that they canceled Lou's pep talks now, because I have this nagging feeling that his next one would have been for BC, against Va Tech. And that would have been bad juju.
