The overachieving Atlanta Hawks may come back down to earth with the loss of Lou Williams. Williams tore his right ACL Friday evening against the Nets during the 2nd quarter and will require season ending surgery.
Williams was intermittently a starter and sub for the Hawks and was averaging 14.5 ppg this season. Lou was integral for a team that was defensively minded, but offensively challenged.
To make matters worse, Devin Harris hurt his ankle in Saturday’s game against the San Antonio Spurs. The Hawks now find themselves with a depleted roster and short of a lot of firepower. Currently, the Hawks are 6th seed in the Eastern Conference, but only 2.5 games ahead of the 8th seed. If the Hawks are going to hold onto a playoff spot this year, GM Danny Ferry may have to make some trades before the trading deadline ends next month.
