Survive And Advance. Just Survive And Advance. [March Madness Recap]

I don't know what it is about this year in college basketball, but it just seems to me that the 10 seeds and lower in the tournament really aren't that much worse than than high seeds. It's like for whatever reason this year, everyone seems so much closer in terms of talent.

And I think that was on full display today. While all four number 1 seeds are still alive, only UCONN has looked dominant. UNC needed a late surge to beat LSU yesterday, and today, well today Pitt and Louisville cut it really close. Pitt was tied with Oklahoma St. at 74-74 with 2:42 remaining until they finally managed to pull away. Meanwhile, Louisville found themselves in a dogfight with Siena. Siena got within two points of Louisville with 17 seconds to go, but just couldn't pull off the upset.

Michigan State also had to hold their breath, as a ridiculously hot USC team nearly took them out. In fact, Michigan State didn't really win that game so much as USC just went ice cold at about the worst time possible - the last two minutes of a game.

Missouri looked like they were going to be upset by Marquette, who miraculously got Dominic James back for Sunday's game. Marquette even had the lead with under a minute to go. But a few bad plays cost them.

Lastly, I think it's worth noting that Arizona, who most people said didn't even belong in the Tournament (including me), easily took care of Cleveland St. and are now in the Sweet 16.

Hey, just survive and advance, man. Survive and advance.

possible fact: Random clicking works better than actually contemplating which team to pick.

another team that needs to advance tonight is USA baseball. but of course adam dunn will strike out and not hustle! and jeter will ground oooout and make errors. embarrassing us Americans and proving Asian dominance..

Meh, I'm pretty much done, only 12/16. I've still got all my elite 8 though, but at this point no way I'll do really well even if I hit all the rest of my picks. Lost too many in the first weekend.

Siena and Western Kentucky I'll include Southern Illinois in there to are some of those smaller schools that no one cares to pay attention to but wind up biting certain teams in the back side

Congrats to Michigan St. and Purdue for making the "Sweet 16."  I thought they were the best Big Ten teams all season, so it's great that they could move on.  Siena... wow are they impressive.  To beat Ohio St. in Ohio and then scare the you know what out of Louisville.  Nice work.
