Luis Suarez flattered by interest English clubs as Arsenal raise bid to £35m
Liverpool’s wantaway star Luis Suarez admits he is flattered by interest from Arsenal. The Uruguayan hit-man has been subjected to a £30 million bid from Arsenal, which has risen to £35 million after Liverpool’s rejection.
The 26-year-old striker claims interest from English clubs has lifted his spirits and given him hope towards playing a new season in England. Luis Suarez has been severely criticized by media due to his various notorious indiscretions.
The former Ajax striker has been the center of controversy in the Premier League for cases such as racial abuse, diving, biting and finding ways to provoke players. Luis Suarez is currently serving a ten-match ban for a biting incident that occurred towards the end of last season with Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic.
Luis Suarez claims he has been given hope by interest from clubs such as Arsenal. The striker’s fate with Liverpool is still in the mist, especially after his agent Perre Guardiola announced that Luis Suarez desired Champions League action.
Luis Suarez hasn’t talked about his potential exit from Liverpool, but he admits that his confidence has been given an impressive confidence boost during the last couple of week.
“One has to be thankful that despite everything that's happened … clubs still value players for what they can do on the field,” Luis Suarez told an Uruguayan radio station Sport 890, according to Sky Sports. “That makes me think that I can come back and do things well over there.
“They [the press] have given it to me in England but, like we say, I've given them stuff to feed on because if I hadn't done anything then probably they wouldn't have been as bad. But football is like that and you have to be accustomed to all that and it's good that the English clubs still want me.”
Luis Suarez is expected to report to Liverpool Melwood training ground for preseason practice sessions, which begin from July 21. However, such plans could change if Liverpool agrees to selling of the youngster.
Pere Guardiola has already confirmed that Luis Suarez has “two to three” potential suitors waiting for an opportunity to seize the striker’s services. Liverpool understand Luis Suarez is a hot prospect in the transfer market, which is why they have tagged him with a price tag of £50 million.
Real Madrid are still interested in acquiring Luis Suarez as well. The Spanish football giants are expected to come up with a new bid before the end of this week.
