Luis Suarez shuts down doors to a moveaway from Liverpool this summer
Luis Suarez has shut down all possible means of moving away from Liverpool insisting that he had decided upon extending his stay at Anfield. Despite rumors about a secret moveaway, the coveted Uruguayan hit-man claims he has no intentions of leaving Liverpool this summer.
The 26-year-old striker made these announcements with only a couple of hours remaining in the transfer window. Suarez has been linked top clubs across Europe all summer. Arsenal came the closest to luring Suarez away from Liverpool, but Chelsea, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich also made good attempts at signing him in.
Reports in Spain suggest Real Madrid are ready to make a last-minute bid on Uruguay international. However, Liverpool owners have ruled out a sale declaring that bids for Suarez will be greeted on the table.
Suarez, who still hasn’t appeared in a game for Liverpool this season because of his ban for biting, will travel for international duty this week. The 2014 World Cup qualifiers might be keeping Suarez busy, but the striker has a keen eye out for reports linking him away from Liverpool.
“I still have nothing,” Suarez said. “I closed the subject a while ago. I have already taken the decision to stay at Liverpool I have just landed, and I know nothing [about new rumors].”
Suarez made a quick playful jibe at the media for creating rumors about him moving away from Liverpool. The striker told reporters that media had actively taken part in airing speculation about his transfer.
“If I play I am the subject of people talking, if do not play it is the same…” Suarez said. “They have already put me in every team, but I have already finished with this.”
Suarez confessed he was aiming to move to Real Madrid this summer, but that didn’t mean he wasn’t satisfied with his time at Liverpool. The former Ajax forward claims he was always comfortable with the idea of spending another year at Liverpool.
“At that moment I said that if something happens then good, but if I was staying at Liverpool I would be delighted,” Suarez said. “This is over for a while now.”
