Hello out there in FanIQ Land!  Happy 4th of July to all of you in the U.S.  It's America's 236th birthday.  Before the fireworks are launched in the sky tonight, we've got 15 games across America with some guaranteed fireworks on the field.  It all starts bright and early before noon in our Nation's Capital, and concludes in the desert heat of Arizona.  There are plenty of afternoon matinées today.  We're celebrating here on the Q with a star-spangles pool party.  Bring something good, food or beverage.  As long as you don't come empty-handed we promise not to throw you in the pool with your clothes on.  While we fire up the grill, help yourself to a cold beer and check out today's schedule...

Philadelphia Phillies @ New York Mets: 1:10 PM ET (CSN Philly, Sports NY)

This is your place to join in the fun.  Hop in the pool, and talk (or bitch) about your team(s) and the game(s) you're watching this afternoon and into the night.  Before you watch Pops Goes the Fourth, check out a little Strike, Smash, Slide Goes the Fourth!  Your QTWIB host has to work but gets paid extra for the holiday.  Then it's off to the Three Rivers Regatta.  I won't be here, but you're all responsible adults.  We just have one rule here on the Q, we don't swim in your toilet, so please don't pee in our pool.

Until next time, I'm Bryan Kramer for The Blitzburgh Pit Stop saying have fun, but do it responsibly, and that includes fireworks.

I'm proud to be an American
Where at least I know I'm free
And I won't forget the men who died
Who gave that right to me.
And I gladly stand up next to you
And defend her still today.
Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land,
GOD BLESS THE U.S.A!

Three different Chicago Cubs players provided the Fourth of July fireworks by going yard last night in Atlanta for the victory over the Braves. Bryan LaHair (2-for-3 with a home run and a walk) broke a 1-1 tie in the fourth with his 14th home run of the season, first since June 18. Jeff Baker hit for Paul Maholm in the seventh and cranked his second longball of the year. Our rookie, Anthony Rizzo (2-for-4 with a home run) lined his third homer of the season over the wall in right field in the eighth that capped the scoring on the Cubs fireworks filled night. A great Independence day of baseball was had by Chicago Cubs fans throughout America in 2012.
