MLB Daily Walk-Off
Micah Owings Would Bat Clean-Up for the Giants
READ MORE:
MLB
Last week I joked about Micah Owings being in the lineup on his off days from pitching. Now, I'm actually quite serious.

Owings may have a future in the AL ... pitch once every five days, DH the other four.

Usually a pitcher is only called to pinch-hit in extra innings when all other options have been exhausted. Owings was called on to come in during a key 6th inning at-bat.

How'd he do? Opposite field home run to tied the game at 7-7 and give Arizona the lift it needed to it's 20th game of the year in April.

Is there any doubt he'd be the best hitter on the Giants?

Diamondbacks 8, Astros 7

More DBacks praise - take a look at the NL leading pitchers:

1. Brandon Webb 6-0
2. Micah Owings 4-0
3. Dan Haren 4-1

Now you can add Max Scherzer to the starting fray, as he gets his first chance on Monday.
Walking in Flushing Meadows You might not have realized it, but Oliver Perez actually walked you, too. Congrats. The Mets starter, formerly of the Pirates, helped his old compadres piled up seven runs in the 2nd inning with five walks and very few pitches that actually crossed the plate. Pirates 13, Mets 1.

Your typical AL East first place battle Rays and Orioles duking it out ... wait, what? Andy Sorronstine pitched the Rays to their first even winning April in franchise history and into a tie with the Baltimore Orioles. That was horribly uncomfortable to write. Even spell check thinks first place and Ray/Orioles shouldn't belong in the same sentence. Rays 8, O's 1.

Former Brave has All-Star night for Dodgers No, no, not that one. The other one. Andruw Jones went 0-for-3, but Rafael Furcal went 5-for-6 and paced the Boys in Blue to a 13-1 thrashing of Florida. Dodgers 13, Marlins 1.

Mark Cuban already having a positive impact on Cubs After firing Avery Johnson on his way to Wrigley, the Mavs owner watched on from behind home plate as the Cubs gave it to Suppan. Explain this: Geovany Soto tears is up for the several weeks, then takes the weekend off striking out 8 times in a row and generally looking clueless, then hits TWO 3-run homers last night. Typically, when I attend the game today, no runs will be scored. Cubs 19, AAA Brewers 5.
