MLB Open Game Thread: 7/15

Back in the full swing of things - double digit scores again tonight? MLB Open Game Thread

7/15/11 in MLB   |   Jess   |   34926 respect

A couple of pretty high scoring games last night leave us wondering what tonight will bring. Ordinarily chances would be good that 7 runs would be enough to win a game. Not in Toronto last night though; the Blue Jays offense was on fire, scoring 16 runs to hand Jo-Jo Reyes a (probably undeserved) win. The Rockies also lit it up at Coors Field last night, putting up 12 runs against the Brewers' 3. What's in store for tonight? Let's see...here's a full lineup tonight (again, all times are eastern):

Already underway: Chicago Cubs host the Florida Marlins
Cleveland Indians in Baltimore against the Orioles at 7:05
Chicago White Sox at Detroit Tigers at 7:05
Yankees try to redeem themselves in their series against the Blue Jays in Toronto at 7:07
The Cincinnati Reds welcome the St. Louis Cardinals at 7:10
The Red Sox meet the Rays in Tampa at 7:10
Philadelphia's Phillies take on the New York Mets at 7:10
The Atlanta Braves will host the Washington Natinals Nationals (it never gets old) at 7:35
The Kansas City Royals are in Minnesota to continue their series against the Twins at 8:10
The Houston Astros host the season's surprising Pittsburgh Pirates at 8:05
LA's Angels travel north to Oakland to take on the A's at 10:05
The Beer Battle continues in Colorado with the Brewers and Rockies at 8:40
The Dodgers and Diamondbacks beat the heat at Chase Field at 9:40
A couple more of California's finest will battle it out in San Diego when the Giants meet the Padres at 10:05
The M's will try to snap their losing streak against the Rangers starting at 10:10 in Seattle

So the Blue Jays take care of the Yankees handedly tonight, winning 7-1.  Brandon Phillips hits a walk-off 2-run homer to win it for the Reds in the bottom of the 9th.  The Rockies lead the Brewers 4-0 in the 7th.

Jeff Karstens pitches a complete game shutout!  4-0 Bucs is the final in Houston, and the Pirates are tied for FIRST PLACE!

Reds/Cards are going back and forth.  Cincy led 2-0, fell behind 3-2 in the top of the 7th.  They got the lead back in the bottom of the 7th, and now have bases loaded and 1 out.  Had the same scenario last inning and got nothing.

Let's go Bucs!  Brett Myers will face off against surprisingly good Jeff Karstens, who comes into tonight's game with the 5th lowest ERA in the NL.
