The eight teams competing in the 2008 MLB Playoffs is not yet set in stone, but the early games schedule is set for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Chicago hosts Detroit at 2 ET today for the opportunity to play Minnesota on Tuesday, a game that would be shown on TBS. A hate to bring up this scary thought, but it's supposed to rain here in Chicago all afternoon, setting up a potential nightmare scenario that only Tim Kurkjian would get excited about.
As for the rest of the first Divisional Series, the times and announcers are set. The Boston-Los Angeles series got the special announcer treatment, as Chip Caray and Buck Martinez will be working that series. This is unfortunate news for Cubs fans, as we've been dealt the dreaded Dick Stockton again.
Wednesday, October 1st (all games on TBS)
Brewers at Phillies (3 ET) - Local Milwaukee announcer Brian Anderson, Joe Simpson and Braves pitcher John Smoltz.
Dodgers at Cubs (6:30) - Dick Stockton, Ron Darling and Tony Gwynn.
Red Sox at Angels (10) - That's going to be a fun day of work in Boston on Thursday.
Thursday, October 2nd
White Sox/Twins at Rays (2:30) - Don Orsillo and Harold Reynolds.
Brewers at Phillies (6:00)
Dodgers at Cubs (9:30)
We'll have series previews and predictions here all week leading up to Wednesday afternoon with live threads galore.
