Last week's Power Rankings were just a normal ranking. This week, the All Star rosters just came out, both for the American League and the National League, and every team had to be represented. In honor of that, this week's edition of the MLB Power Rankings will mention each All Star selection and whether or not each player was deserving or undeserving, as well as who got snubbed from each team.

Let me know where you think my Power Rankings are wrong, which snubs I missed, and which guys I incorrectly labeled deserving or undeserving. Let's debate!

MLB set up a system that allows for fans to do that. (I heard there was even a button to click that cast votes for all players from a single team!) Those who can take advantage of it do. Just like the system allows for the Yankees and Red Sox to out spend everyone. In both cases I disagree with the rules as I think they violate the spirit of competition.
I still think the fans deserve the vote. But it needs to be altered so that people can't literally vote 2,500 times!
I completely agree. Not only is there a button to automatically choose all the players from one team, but the official websites actually encourage the fans to use it. Madness.

I'm not going to apologize for my fellow Giants fans over stuffing the box. Not when Yankee, Red Sox and Card fans have done the same for decades. Did I vote for the Panda? No. But then I didn't use 50 e-mail address to vote 1,250 times either.

It happens every year unfortunately. How do you think Jason Bay got to start the '06 game on home turf at PNC Park? Sure he probably deserved to be in the game, but no way was he worthy of starting. The last few years I've started to wonder if fans really deserve to vote. This year especially, there is no CF who deserves the NL start over Andrew McCutchen, yet he didn't get the vote because he plays for the Pirates, and too many people in the rest of baseball still held that against him.

Not to mention their embarrassingly undeserving catcher. I like Posey, but Yadier Molina and Carlos Ruiz are both better than him right now by virtually every measurable standard.

My bottom 6 would be... Den, Sea, MN, Chi, Hou, SD.
Going on the assumption that "deserving" = "having a great 81 games" then yes. The Panda probably shouldn't be there. But... One could argue that this makes up for 2009 when he SHOULD have been there but was snubbed. Also, in '09 he wasn't on the team. At least Wright is still on the team and will be in the game and if the game is close, will be there in the end.
Also a snub was Sergio Romo. Big time. Again, if a snub means a player who's having a great 81 games....
It would be a lot easier to swallow if Giants fans hadn't bombarded the voting across the board, including getting their second baseman--who has yet to play a game this year--up to fourth place.

I remember how hard it was just a couple years ago to justify anyone on the Pirates being deserving of an all-star invite. This year I'd throw Burnett in as a snub too, but as I said he's pitching Sunday. It's amazing that this team has 4 guys deserving of an invite.

Sandoval starting over Wright... what a ****ing joke.
