Jul 7, 2013; St. Louis, MO, USA; St. Louis Cardinals right fielder Carlos Beltran (3) is congratulated by center fielder Jon Jay (19) after he stole home during the third inning at Busch Stadium. St. Louis defeated Miami 3-2. Mandatory Credit: Jeff Curry-USA TODAY SportsLast week, the Pirates made a run for the top of the rankings, challenging the Cardinals. This week, the Cardinals will maintain their #1 ranking once again, thanks a few things. For starters, they're still the best team in baseball. From top to bottom, they're just a touch better than the other top teams. Second, the Pirates have hit a slight bump, and aren't quite as red hot as they were last week. Still, the Bucs and Cards are tied for the best record in baseball, with the Red Sox just a half game behind. The top 3 aren't changing this week, but there will definitely be some other changes.

This week, Power Rankings will be a little different, and instead of a quick paragraph about each team, we'll be listing their All-Star selections, since the rosters were just announced.

Final Vote candidates are in parenthesis, with "FV."

To piggyback off Kramer's post about Jeff Locke, the same can be said for Matt Carpenter.  Last year, he was a utility player playing all over the field and this year, he has successfully made the smooth transition to 2nd base full time and made himself an All-Star.

Don't really thoughts today, since company kept me from baseball the last few days. That said, is the AL Final Vote really all relievers? That's...dumb.

I see Pat caught his boo-boo, put last week's records on this week's rankings when it was first published this morning.

Until the Pirates drop out of 1st place in either division or National League I have to rank them 1st overrall.

It is amazing that the A's are one of the best teams in baseball and they have one All Star: Old, fat Bartolo Colon.

Jeff Locke has got to be one of the best stories out of all these guys.  He was in a dogfight just to make the starting rotation out of spring training.
