starting pitcher Roy Oswalt relatively soon.The Rangers play somewhat close to Oswalt's home state of Mississippi, and he has connections with pitching coach Mike Maddux and CEO Nolan Ryan.
Manager Ron Washington stated on ESPN Dallas 103.3 FM's Ben & Skin show that general manager Jon Daniels and the rest of the front office will soon make a final decision on the right-hander.
"Oswalt has to want to come to Texas and we have to get him ready. The guy is a quality pitcher. But I'm more than certain there are other teams trying to do the same things," Washington said, according to Richard Durrett of ESPNDallas.com.
In 11 years, Oswalt has a career record of 159-93, while compiling a 3.21 ERA and a whopping 1,759 strikeouts. He finished 9-10 with a 3.69 ERA in 139.0 innings for the Philadelphia Phillies last season.
