a PITCHERS EARNED RUN AVERAGE is the big stat..............if one is 3.25 and the others is 2.25 as you said.......the 2.25 is better........he would give up about 2 runs a game as compared to the 3 runs a game.....so the lower the better.........the sample you give in football is TEAM WISE....not individual...........
