MLB Teams That Are Likely To Make Trades Before the Deadline

Which moves might be made before the MLB trade deadline?

Matt Thornton might be on the trading block this season.

The first month and a half of the Major League Baseball season is done. Teams have a good idea of where they stand with the rest of the league and what changes they need to make to have a shot at the postseason. Teams around the league are also experiencing injuries to important players on their team that they thought would be an important part of their success this season. The best of example of this is the Boston Red Sox who have lost two-thirds of their all-star outfield with Jacoby Ellsbury and Carl Crawford on the DL. They have also lost veteran third baseman and team leader Kevin Youkilis for an undetermined amount of time with a back injury.

There are really only two ways to improve your team during the season. One is by having one of your top minor league prospects hire a moving company and make the move to big leagues. You can also do what most teams do and make a trade. This usually involves giving up one of your top prospects for someone that can help you fill a need and help you right now to win a championship. The trade deadline isn’t until the end of June but fans and teams are already speculating as to who will be traded. Here are some teams that are likely to make a move on the trade market before the trading deadline passes.

· Chicago White Sox – They are right in the middle of a tight AL Central division race. The White Sox are one of the most active teams in the trade market every year. They currently have a logjam at closer where they have two guys that could be the closer for another team. It is likely that they will shop Matt Thornton in order to boost their hitting this season.

· Boston Red Sox – Kevin Youkilis is injured and prospect third baseman Will Middlebrooks was called up to take his place. He has performed very well since his call up. This has led many to believe that the BoSox may end up trading Youkilis to a team that is looking for a veteran leadership with a still productive bat. A team looking for a DH could benefit from adding Youkilis to their roster this season.

· Philadelphia Phillies – There are a bunch of rumors surrounding this club when it comes to trades. Roy Oswalt has seemingly been on the trade block for the last couple seasons with most of the rumors surrounding the Boston Red Sox. The Phillies may need to trade one of their veteran pitchers to help their offensive production if they want to win another World Series.

Who will be moving to another team this season? It is still a little early to tell as most teams still think that they are in the pennant race and may not be willing to deal one of their stars to get rid of their contracts and begin the rebuilding process. The rumors are just that right now, rumors. They should heat up as we get into late June and July. Look for one of these teams to make a deal before the deadline this season.

The White Sox will be out of it before long...they do not have the pitching to compete.  Youkilis could go to a team that needs a DH, he could always stay in Boston and DH...Boston has talent to make a run in that division, reality will set in on the O's and they will drop down...If Cleveland can maintain the divisional lead look for them to add a mUCH needed RH bat...a healthy Sizemore ends the disastrous Damon experiment, and a RH bat will add POWER to a lineup that sorely lacks it.  A Healthy Sizemore is kind of a stretch but the Indians pitching is stronger than folks think.  Oswalt?  I didn't think he even pitched.  I look for Detroit to try and make a trade, outside of Verlander they have shaky pitching and are immensely missing Victor MArtinez' bat.  Angels may look to move Trumbo or Wells.  Trumbo would be a great fit for the Indians
