It's all about the magic numbers entering this last week as 4 divisions and 1 Wild Card are far from finished.
First, they're celebrating in Cleveland and Anaheim. Lately it hasn't been too beneficial to relax the final week of the season, but if I had to pick a World Champ today I'm going with the Angels. Yes, that team out west you've hardly watched this season.
AL East: (6) The really important, but not really, race is back to 1.5 games.
NL East: (5) David Wright could pick up a few more MVP votes this week if he continues to bat the Mets ahead of the Phillies. Philadelphia, though, is just 1/2 game back of the struggling Padres. Anyone else think SD has lost it?
NL Central: (4) I'm having a hard time wrapping my mind around a postseason baseball on the North Side. But this is the Cubs so I'm just not going to comment until the magic number reads 0.
NL West: (5) Arizona comfortably ahead 2.5 with 3 games at Pittsburgh and then 3 at ... Break up the Rockies who've won 8 straight and just 1.5 out of the Wild Card. It's encouraging to know the best team in the NL right now remains a long shot to make the playoffs.
Anyone calling a big surprise during this last week?
