Man City manager Pellegrini hails Jesus Navas and Fernandinho
Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini believes the two new signings will become a huge asset to the dynamic attack of the club. The Chilean boss believes his men will be able to add to the attacking football Manchester City has grown accustomed to in recent history.
As the former Real Madrid manager prepares his squad for the next season, the question going through everybody’s mind is whether Manuel Pellegrini will be able to fill in the shoes of Roberto Mancini, who helped Manchester City win the FA Cup and the Premier League title.
In comparison to the success Manchester City have achieved in recent years, Roberto Mancini’s form at the Eastlands was utterly woeful last year. Losing the Premier League title to archrivals Manchester United, getting kicked out of the Champions League from the Group Stages and facing the humiliation of defeat to Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup final was the reason behind Roberto Mancini getting sacked.
Manuel Pellegrini is confident of avoiding such ill fate during his tenure at the club and hopes the new signings Jesus Navas and Fernandinho will provide Manchester City with the edge the club needs in the Premier League and the Champions League.
In an interview to Manchester City’s official website Manuel Pellegrini discussed his potential success the Eastlands can achieve next season.
“Jesus [Navas] is a player I know well from La Liga and he is someone I have admired for a long time,” Manuel Pellegrini said, registering praise for the 27-year-old Spain international. “He is quick, has excellent technique and I think the City fans will enjoy watching him play. He will provide a variety of attacking options for us and he can also score goals as well as create them for others. He is an excellent signing for the club.
“Jesus is a world and European champion and a regular squad member in a very special Spain team.”
Manuel Pellegrini also found words of praise the 28-year-old Brazil international Fernandinho. The Chilean tactician believes the Brazilian midfielder will strengthen the squad and will settle well in the Premier League.
“I made Fernandinho one of the top priorities. He has impressed me on a number of occasions over the past few years and is another player I've taken a keen interest in,” Manuel Pellegrini sai. “He is an experienced international who will further strengthen our midfield and I think he will be well suited to the Premier League.
“He is a superb athlete with a wide range of passing, can score goals and most importantly, can quickly turn defense into attack. Both Jesus and Fernandinho add pace and skill to what is already a very talented and successful squad.
“I am looking forward to working with both our new signings and to working with the players who have already won a Premier League title together. We have a very strong pool and together we aim to achieve great things.”
