Sir Alex Ferguson believes Manchester United and Manchester City are up for an explosive showdown at the Emirates on Sunday. The Scotsman declared that victory at the Emirates would be one of the greatest results he acquires in his 26 years with Manchester United.

A lot of hype is being built in the showdown between the two Manchester clubs. Manchester United leads the Premier League at moment with 36 points from 15 games and a goal difference of 16. Manchester City are second placed with 33 points from 15 games and have accumulated a goal difference of 17.

This means Manchester United needs to win this game in order to remain on top of the Premier League table. After stealing the Premier League title from Manchester United in the last five minutes of the season, Manchester City will host their derby rivals as defending champions for the first time in 44 years.

Manchester United are still undefeated in the Premier League. Sir Alex Ferguson will attempt to maintain that record, however, he understands that Roberto Mancini’s men have breached defenses 28 times, which is second highest in the Premier League. Interestingly, Manchester United can boast about the best attack as they have scored 37 goals this season.

Roberto Mancini and Co. have turned all their attention towards winning the Premier League given that Manchester City recorded their second successive lack lustrous exit from the Champions League this week. Manchester City hope to take advantage of Manchester United’s recent defensive frailties. Just last week Manchester United conceded three goals against Reading.

Manchester City haven’t lost a Premier League game at home since Everton recorded an upset in December 2010. Roberto Mancini claims his side is full of confidence because of their impressive form against Manchester United in recent years. On the other hand, Sir Alex Ferguson believes his side should prepare for a mega showdown between the English football giants.

“If we win (on Sunday) it will be one of our best ever results. They are a really good, powerful team with massive players,” Sir Alex Ferguson said.

“It won't be easy and if we defend like we did at Reading we'll be in trouble. The important thing for us is to take lessons from the mistakes we're making and do something about it. We need to find a solution.”
