Man Utd break deal for young Benfica star Ola John as Naniís replacement
Manchester United are lining up a move for Netherlands star Ola John. With the imminent exit of Nani insight Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has started to review options for his replacement.
The Portuguese winger has grown out of favor in the eyes of Sir Alex Ferguson, in spite of recording spectacular last season. Seeing a slump in Nani’s form the Old Trafford boss is bent on selling the 26-year-old international to the highest bidder during the January transfer window.
Nani hasn’t confirmed his departure from Manchester United, but he hasn’t ruled out the possibility of an away move as well. The former Sporting CP player has hinted a move to Juventus following interest from the Italian football giants in summers.
Manchester United snubbed Juventus’s bid on Nani in the summers declaring the Serie A winner were paying too little for their prized asset. Well, Sir Alex Ferguson did have a point. Nani is not a player worth pennies. If the Portuguese can’t make it into Manchester United’s first that doesn’t mean his talents have been washed away.
Sir Alex Ferguson wants new blood and competition in his team. The Scotsman desires a winger who cannot only provide traditional help from the wing but has a knack for scoring goals as well.
Manchester United scouts have spotted such talent in the Benfica’s 20-year-old winger Ola John. The young Dutchman moved to Benfica last summer following two successful seasons with Twente.
Rife rumors suggest Ola John has become the apple of Sir Alex Ferguson’s eye on the list of his young potential transfer targets. Insiders at Manchester United have confirmed that the Premier League leaders will pursue the youngster in the upcoming January transfer window.
Ola John is expected to cost Manchester United around £15-20 million. Sir Alex Ferguson should be willing to pay such an amount for the Ola John, after all he did buy Bebe for £8 million.
The arrival of Ola John will increase completion in Manchester United’s first team as the Dutchman will have to fight over playing opportunities with Luis Antonio Valencia, Ashley Young, Shinji Kagawa and Danny Welbeck.
