Man Utd move in for unsettled Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas
Manchester United is on the verge of moving in for one of the three goalkeepers for the Spanish national team. With David de Gea slowly growing out of favor because of the youngster’s insistence to move out, Sir Alex Ferguson is considering launching a campaign for Real Madrid’s Iker Casillas, Barcelona’s Victor Valdes or Liverpool’s Pepe Reina.
All three Spain internationals are reportedly unsettled at home. The ongoing quarrels between the Spanish and Portuguese sides and the growing differences between him and Real Madrid are forcing Iker Casillas to move away from his childhood club.
Meanwhile, Barcelona star Victor Valdes has refused to ink an extension contract with the La Liga leaders. The 31-year-old demanded an increment and a long-term contract from Barcelona, but since the negotiations have broken down the Spaniard is now looking for an exit route from Camp Nou.
Liverpool’s prized Spanish asset Pepe Reina is also thinking about moving away. The 30-year-old shot-stopper is considered to be one of the best in the world, therefore, it appears as if Pepe Reina is wasting his talents at Liverpool. Given that Liverpool has been one of the most successful clubs in Europe in history, but its recent form leaves Pepe Reina unable to contend for the top honors and silverware.
Reportedly, Manchester United are planning to move in for the Real Madrid captain Iker Casillas. Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has been a huge fan of the 31-year-old goalkeeper for a very long time. Iker Casillas’ relationship with Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho is at an all-time low. Moreover, the Spaniard seems to have issues with the Real Madrid’s crown jewel Cristiano Ronaldo.
Iker Casillas is well into his 14th season at Real Madrid and has over 650 appearances for the richest club in world. Moreover, Iker Casillas has 143 appearances for Spain along with the title of captain. These factors make Iker Casillas one of the best if not the best goalkeeper in the world.
Sir Alex Ferguson will have to shell millions to convince Real Madrid into letting go their locally born custodian. The Old Trafford boss has a rule of not signing players over 30 years, yet the Scotsman must be ready to throw his rulebook into the bin for this scenario to occur.
