Richard Swanson's trip to the 2014 Rio World Cup ended VERY prematurely

Richard Swanson's goal was to dribble a soccer ball from Seattle to Rio for the 2014 World Cup.

That's a 10,000 mile walk.

Sadly, he came up a bit short after being hit by a truck and dying in Oregon.

Swanson, 42, was promoting the One World Futbol Project, which donates soccer balls to people in less economically fortunate countries. They donate extra durable soccer balls, like the blue one that Swanson is holding in the picture to the right.

It's a pretty sad story, and he leaves behind two sons, ages 22 and 18.
