Manchester United approach Real Madrid for Luka Modric or Mesut Ozil
After meeting failure in his campaign to sign Real Madrid’s crown jewel Cristiano Ronaldo, David Moyes is now attempting to bring Luka Modric or Mesut Ozil to Old Trafford. Reports have confirmed that Manchester United has officially contacted Real Madrid about signing in either of the two midfielders.
Modric and Ozil, both have been closely linked with a move to Manchester United since last season, but Real Madrid have proven to be a big obstacle in that project. It appears as if Manchester United are making a last ditch effort to bring in some big faces after what has been a frustrating summer on and off the field.
The Premier League champions have been unable to make an impact on the field. Unexpected defeats in the preseason two small teams and lack of stability are bringing sleepless nights to Moyes’ life. Meanwhile, the club’s inability to attract big names has foiled all transfer plans.
Manchester United are desperately searching for a playmaker for their starting line-up. The transfer window is set to expire on September 2, and with it Manchester United will lose the opportunity to sign in a creative midfielder for the second successive year.
“I’m confident we'll have players in before the start,” a hopeful Moyes told reporters earlier this week. “We're involved in several players we're looking at and that will continue. Will we get them before the deadline? I hope so, but we're working very hard to do so. It was always going to be a difficult window for me personally. I joined on July 1, which has given me a short period.”
Manchester United have accepted defeat on their campaign to steal Cesc Fabregas from Barcelona. Well, even a blind man could sense that Manchester United were soon going to hit a solid brick wall on this front. Barcelona were uninterested in the move, so was Cesc Fabregas and a bid of £40 million was certainly not going to get Manchester United any big name from the Barcelona camp.
Moyes appears to be under the impression that Modric or Ozil will be a surplus at Real Madrid this season, since the new Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti could use only one of the two attacking midfielders. What Moyes is forgetting is that the Italian boss is excellent at improvising and managing his assets and will have absolutely no desire to lose either of the two midfielders, even if Manchester United are willing to break the bank.
