Manchester United are closing in on PSV midfielder Kevin Strootman, who is eager to join a Premier League club this fall. Sir Alex Ferguson narrowly missed out on the Dutchman during the summers, but since then Manchester United have been in constant contact with PSV.
 
A number of other clubs have also approached PSV with interest in the youngster. Strong bids for Kevin Strootman have arrived from Italy. Italian powerhouses such as Juventus and AC Milan are ready to sign in Kevin Strootman in the blink of an eye.
 
Reportedly, Kevin Strootman has already put pen on paper to a gentleman’s agreement with Manchester United. This doesn’t come as a surprise as Sir Alex Ferguson is keen on adding a sturdy midfielder to his squad.
 
Rife rumors suggest PSV and Manchester United have agreed to a transfer deal worth £18 million for Kevin Strootman. However, these reports have haven’t been confirmed by either club yet.
 
Arsenal and Liverpool are also interested in acquiring services of the versatile midfielder. Both clubs have been tracking the 22-year-old midfielder for a while now, although Manchester United has been step ahead all the time.
 
Sir Alex Ferguson is ready to throw in a couple of extra millions for Kevin Strootman. The Scotsman has missed out on a couple of midfield targets as of late; such as Luka Modric, Eden Hazard and Wesley Sneijder.
 
Kevin Strootman, who was named captain of the Netherlands side last year, is renowned for his assisting role in the team. The midfielder can play in almost any position on the field. Sir Alex Ferguson hopes to use Kevin Strootman as a holding midfielder in his team, which is a position the young Dutch player is naturally built to play.
 
During the summers, Kevin Strootman admitted the possibility of moving to Old Trafford. Manchester United fans were disappointed to see that Sir Alex Ferguson wasn’t able to strike the iron while it was hot to bring Kevin Strootman home. This time round Manchester United were better prepared for negotiations.
 
Manchester United sit seven points clear atop the Premier League table and are due to hose Real Madrid in Champions League next month.
 
Kevin Strootman, who is desperate for regular Champions League action, has the traits and skill to become the future captain of Manchester United. Manchester United’s midfield currently consists of Michael Carrick, Tom Cleverley, Anderson, Paul Scholes and Shinji Kagawa.
