Manchester United eager to replace Paul Scholes with Kevin Strootman in January
Manchester United’s transfer team was as busy as a bee during the summer transfer window. A lot of cash flowed out of the club with Sir Alex Ferguson making a ton of final adjustments to his squad.
Now it appears Manchester United are looking to further revamp their squad in the winter transfer window. Rumors are linking a number of players with moves to Old Trafford.
Top of the list is Manchester United’s long term transfer target Kevin Strootman. The Netherlands international has informed Manchester United that he will be available in the transfer market during the winter transfer window.
European football giants are already lining up with interest in Kevin Strootman. Rumors suggest AC Milan and Real Madrid have already placed bids on the midfielder. Kevin Strootman, who came to fame from his spell at Sparta Rotterdam, was signed in by the Dutch club PSV at the start of last season.
The young Dutchman recorded an impressive debut season which further coerced Manchester United into inquiring about the transfer demands from PSV. At the moment the 22-year-old is valued to be around £20 million, but that price could be further increased.
“Strootman has had a good time in Eindhoven, but he decided that he wants to prove himself in a better league,” Kevin Strootman’s agent Chiel Dekker told reporters.
“If an agreement is able to be reached with a potentially interested club, PSV will allow Kevin to leave in January.”
Sir Alex Ferguson has attempted to solve Manchester United’s midfield crisis, but the club still lacks a midfielder which is capable of spreading the ball around, is diligent and has the instincts for breaking plays.
Manchester United is actually looking for Paul Scholes successor. Although, Paul Scholes used to be an attacking midfielder in his early years, the Englishman evolved into a centre midfielder.
Nick Powell, Wayne Rooney and Tom Cleverley are filling the roles of the powerhouse – the old Paul Scholes. This means Sir Alex Ferguson still needs a hardcore centre midfielder. The Scotsman is an avid fan of Kevin Strootman. Therefore, expect a £15 million for Kevin Strootman from Manchester United in the winter transfer window.
