Sir Alex Ferguson is getting more and more frustrated by Robin van Persie’s delayed decision by each passing minute. Nonetheless, the legendary Scotsman believes the Arsenal ace will agree to a transfer from Arsenal to Manchester United.

The coveted Arsenal captain and striker Robin van Persie has been linked with a lot of transfer speculation this summer. Manchester City and Juventus were favorites sign him in earlier this summer, but now that Robin van Persie has travelled to the red part of Manchester, the Red Devils are favorites to sign him in.

Robin van Persie refused to sign in a contract extension with Arsenal in spite of pleas from manager Arsene Wenger. The Frenchman signed in new talented players in order to buff up his squad, but Robin van Persie desires to compete and win silverware with a stronger team.

Hence, Robin van Persie entered the football market and almost immediately top notch clubs from around Europe lined up to place a bid on the 29-year-old striker. Robin van Persie has been in spectacular form for Arsenal as of late.

Last year, Robin van Persie leveled Alan Shearer’s record for the most goals scored in a calendar year and last season the Netherlands international appeared in 48 games to produce 37 goals and 15 assists.

For a long time Manchester City were hot favorites to sign in Robin van Persie, but their £15 million bid for the Dutch veteran fell apart. Sir Alex Ferguson understands Arsenal is reluctant to do business for Robin van Persie, still he is optimistic about signing in the former Feyenoord forward.

“We have made a bid and they've been trying to negotiate with other clubs,” Sir Alex Ferguson informed said after his side drew in a pre-season friendly with Barcelona. “I don't have a gut feeling on it at the moment, I must admit. We're not getting any breakthrough with Arsenal.

“It's difficult to say why they're operating this way. I don't know what their thoughts are because they're not giving anything away.

“I can't give you any more information. We just have to persevere. We are trying our best and hopefully it will come our way but there's no progress at this moment in time.”

Sir Alex Ferguson has been unlucky in the transfer market this year. On Wednesday, the Old Trafford boss lost his longtime transfer target Lucas Moura to Paris Saint-Germain. This was another big-money by Paris Saint-Germain, who have already signed in high profile players like Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Thiago Silva and Ezequiel Lavezzi this summer.

“I find it quite amazing that a club can pay €45 million for a 19-year-old boy,” Sir Alex Ferguson said whilst explaining how football was being destroyed with big-money moves. “To tell everyone that PSG are here they've signed Thiago Silva and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. They must have spent about £150 million in the last month.

“The only deterrent to that is UEFA. In the conditions of European football, you don't qualify for Europe by winning the league or coming second - you only get in by invitation. That's where, hopefully, UEFA can have some power. When somebody's paying €45 million for a 19-year-old boy you have to say the game's gone mad.”
