The interest in signing Sao Paulo star Lucas Moura continues to increase in the football market. More and more clubs are piling up with interest in the teenage Brazil international, which has forced Manchester United to up their campaign to bring Lucas Moura to Old Trafford.
Manchester United officials have informed the manager Sir Alex Ferguson is about to place a £30 million bid on Lucas Moura. Inter Milan, Juventus, Paris-Saint Germain, Real Madrid and Barcelona are closely following Manchester United’s progress on capturing the 19-year-old midfielder.
Reportedly, Lucas Moura is currently under contract negotiations with a couple of other clubs. Chelsea’s £32 million bid on Lucas Moura has already been rejected by Sao Paulo and a £35 million bid by Real Madrid has also been rejected.
Presently, Manchester United are leading the race to sign in Lucas Moura, who scored nine goals and provided seven assists in 35 games last season. In spite of his young age, Lucas Moura has already played in 15 games for Brazil.
According to reports, Chelsea and Real Madrid have lessened their interest in Lucas Moura. However, Manchester United still face tough competition from Inter Milan and Juventus.
Real Madrid have turned their attention towards signing former Manchester Untied target Luka Modric and Chelsea has signed in Brazil international Oscar.
Inter Milan and Juventus are still in search of a young midfielder, but Sir Alex Ferguson is ready to oust their bids with the additional funds he received last month.
“You never know what can happen,” said Lucas Moura said on his transfer saga with Manchester United. “I don’t have a crazy desire to leave but, when the time comes, I will speak with my family and decide what is best for my future.
“When I go on the internet I see Inter, Real Madrid and I don’t know who else, wanting to come for me with a truck load of money.
“Of course I think about it, but I can’t let it go to my head. I’m very calm and down to earth about it. My job is to play football so that these clubs continue to be interested.”
