
Manchester United’s initial bid for young Brazilian midfield star Lucas Moura has been rejected by Sao Paulo. Now, Manchester United plan to fuel their bid with an excess of £20 million which they received as an additional boost to sign in more players.
Manchester United and Sao Paulo are expected to continue negotiations for the teenage midfielder sensation Lucas Moura. Manchester United sent a team of officials to Brazil on Tuesday to finalize the deal for Lucas Moura, but the deal fell apart with Sao Paulo rejecting the transfer deal.
The Old Trafford boss Sir Alex Ferguson wants to complete the signing of Lucas Moura before the 2012 London Olympics begin. Manchester United officials have told media that Sir Alex Ferguson would prefer to complete the deal before the weekend as the legendary gaffer would like to take his new recruits for a tour with the team.
Chelsea has also faced rejected for Lucas Moura. Chelsea made a £32 million bid for the 19-year-old Brazil international during the early parts of the transfer window.
Lucas Moura is expected to make a Cristiano-Ronaldo-like impact at Manchester United if Sir Alex Ferguson is able to bring the youngster at Old Trafford. Lucas Moura appeared in 35 games for Sao Paulo last season. Lucas Moura scored nine times and provided seven assists. Lucas Moura has also appeared in 15 games for Brazil.
There is a long list of clubs that are closely monitoring the transfer progress of Lucas Moura. Reportedly, Juventus and Paris-Saint Germain are ready to swoop in for Lucas Moura if Manchester United fails to sign him in again. Real Madrid is also eyeing the whole saga closely.
“You never know what can happen,” Lucas Moura told ESPN. “I don't have a crazy desire to leave but, when the time comes, I will speak with my family and decide what is best for my future. Of course I think about it, but I can't let it go to my head. I'm very calm and down to earth about it. My job is to play football so that these clubs continue to be interested.”
Manchester United have been trailing Lucas Moura for more than a year now. Sir Alex Ferguson even invited Lucas Moura’s father for a tour to Manchester United. After the tour Lucas Moura’s father said that his son will most probably sign in for Manchester United.
