Real Madrid star Karim Benzema is edging towards a shocking away move to Manchester United. The France international has been linked to Manchester United for over a year now.
The Old Trafford boss Sir Alex Ferguson is a big fan of Karim Benzema. The Manchester United manager has made a couple attempts in trying to steal Karim Benzema from Real Madrid in the past, but in vain.
This time it’s Karim Benzema who is interested in moving to Manchester United. The 24-year-old striker is tired of competing for first team action at Real Madrid. In a recent press release Karim Benzema revealed he was unhappy with his stay in Spain.
The Frenchman didn’t talk about Manchester United, but he did hint about a move in the near future. Karim Benzema told reporters that he was frustrated by sitting on the bench following his transfer from Lyon.
Karim Benzema has found himself playing second fiddle to forwards such as Cristiano Ronaldo and Gonzalo Higuain in spite of recording good performances for Real Madrid. In a recent interview to the French newspaper L’Equipe, Karim Benzema said that he felt challenged by Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho.
“Of course, I want to play more. I’ve spent more time on the bench than I have on the pitch since the season began, but I’m going to keep fighting and make the most of the minutes I get,” Karim Benzema said.
Manchester United will have to shell more than £33 million, which was Karim Benzema’s price tag in 2009 when he was brought from Lyon, if they want the Frenchman at Old Trafford.
Sir Alex Ferguson publically admits Manchester United’s failure to secure the services of Karim Benzema in the past. However, Sir Alex Ferguson continues to pursue the youngster for his squad.
Manchester United have pursuing Karim Benzema for the past four seasons. In spite of possessing a healthy attack such as Robin Van Persie, Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez, Sir Alex Ferguson is keen on further strengthening his squad.
Karim Benzema scored 32 goals and 15 assists in 52 appearances for Real Madrid last season. The 24-year-old striker’s spectacular form is expected to attract a lot of interest from top notch clubs other than Manchester United. Therefore, expect a transfer battle with Manchester United involved if Karim Benzema does enter the transfer market.
