Manchester United have revealed a surprising new transfer target. The Old Trafford boss Sir Alex Ferguson is interested in signing the AC Milan playmaker Kevin-Prince Boateng.
Italian media reports Kevin-Prince Boateng is upset with AC Milan for not upgrading his contract. Kevin-Prince Boateng requested contract renewal last season. Apparently, AC Milan are hesitant to negotiate the terms of the new contract.
Now AC Milan has clearly snubbed Kevin-Prince Boateng’s contract requests. Kevin-Prince Boateng demanded an increase from €2.3 million-a-year to €4 million-a-year. AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani as told Kevin-Prince Boateng’s that AC Milan is not in position to agree to the terms of such a contract.
Kevin-Prince Boateng has been linked to a couple of top notch European clubs this year. Manchester United and Real Madrid were interested in signing him earlier this year. Reportedly, Bayern Munich had also approached AC Milan to enquire about Kevin-Prince Boateng’s status.
Nonetheless, the question for Manchester United is – whether Kevin-Prince Boateng is the man to solve Manchester United’s midfield problems?
Well, Sir Alex Ferguson believes so. Kevin-Prince Boateng enjoyed successful terms back when he was in the Premier League playing for Tottenham Hotspur and Portsmouth. Kevin-Prince Boateng has been a huge success with AC Milan as well, although the Ghana international has been unable to cement his place in the first squad.
AC Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi is already cutting costs at the club, so Kevin-Prince Boateng has little chance of receiving a better contract. Therefore, Kevin-Prince Boateng will most likely opt for a move away.
Moving to Bayern Munich seems an unlikely option given that the 25-year-old’s little brother Jerome Boateng is playing with the German club. The two brothers will most certainly have problems playing on the same team.
Last summer, AC Milan sold two of their prized assets; Thiago Silva and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The move greatly upset AC Milan fans, which is the likely outcome of Kevin-Prince Boateng’s departure as well.
Real Madrid already has a large number of talented midfielders, therefore Kevin-Prince Boateng would mostly be benched in Spain. Moving to Manchester United seems like a good option. Manchester United would not only be willing to pay his wage demands, but also give him first team opportunities.
A couple of Italian sports magazines suggest Manchester United have already prepared a bid for Kevin-Prince Boateng.
