Manchester United is thinking about making some serious new additions to their squad. After losing the Premier League title to arch rivals Manchester City, Sir Alex Ferguson is expected to go on a shopping spree this summer.
The Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has already lined up a long list of midfielders he desires to bring at Old Trafford. The list includes, Mario Gotze, Luka Modric, Cheick Tiote and Shinji Kagawa.
After a season ling midfield crisis at Manchester United, Sir Alex Ferguson has finally realized that he needs to invest in a new attacking midfielder. Presently, Manchester United’s midfield comprises of Paul Scholes, Michael Carrick, Anderson, Tomas Cleverly, Ryan Giggs, Darren Fletcher, Phil Jones and Park Ji-Sung.
Interestingly, none of these midfielders can be considered stable players for Manchester United. Paul Scholes had to come out of retirement last year in order to save Manchester United from an embarrassing run of football. Michael Carrick, who is a poor man’s English version of Roberto Baggio is still one of the most ugly players in midfield of Premier League. Anderson is slowly growing out of favor too. The young Brazilian has been with Manchester United a long time; still he hasn’t shown a lot of improvement.
Tomas Cleverly is promising player but the youngster lacks maturity and experience. Ryan Giggs is finally showing signs of aging. Sir Alex Ferguson understands that his legendary Welsh player will not last more than a year now. The lack lustrous Darren Fletcher is slowly recovering from his long term injury. He too should be shown the exit door.
Phil Jones is actually a make shift midfielder for Manchester United. The youngster is a defender by origins but Manchester United’s lack of midfield expertise forced Sir Alex Ferguson to test him as a midfielder. Park Ji-Sung has been controversial player for Manchester United. The Korean performs only when he needs to otherwise he is just an extra man on the pitch. He too should be axed.
The perfect signing for Manchester United would have been Eden Hazard but as Chelsea has already stolen him from underneath the claws of Sir Alex Ferguson, the Red Devils should focus their attention towards the Tottenham Hotspur’s Luka Modric. The midfield veteran is looking for Champions League action and a Premier League title, which means he is ready to hand in a transfer request.
Borussia Dortmund’s Shinji Kagawa would be a good back up plan. The young Japanese has been in sensational form for Borussia Dortmund this season. If Manchester United doesn’t sign him in, some other club will.
