Mancini believes Man City’s attack will bring Premier League glory again
If there is anything that is going to bring Manchester City back into the title race it is going to be their versatile attack Roberto Mancini declared after his side picked up 4-3 victory over Norwich City.
Roberto Mancini believes Manchester City can still recover from the seven-point gap at the top of the Premier League table. Edin Dzeko and Sergio Aguero partnered up in the attack to take Manchester City to an exhilarating win over a resilient Norwich side.
Recent setbacks from Manchester City have allowed archrivals Manchester United a seven-point lead on top of the Premier League table. Roberto Mancini understands that his side will have to fight tooth and nail in order to become Premier League leaders once again.
Edin Dzeko was given a rare start alongside Sergio Aguero on Saturday. The Bosnian quickly repaid Roberto Mancini’s faith by firing a brilliant brace. Carlos Tevez was demoted to the bench alongside Mario Balotelli, who is recovering from injury.
The Eastlands boss confessed he welcomed the selection process he had to go through before each match. Roberto Mancini told reporters that all of his strikers were bursting to prove themselves, but he had to make prudent tactical decisions to make sure their skills were properly utilized.
“We changed against Norwich because we played three games in six days and needed to have fresh players,” Roberto Mancini said. “But we are sure that all of our strikers can start to score like they did here.
“We have won games with Carlos and Aguero, Edin and Carlos, Aguero and Edin; all these three players, if they work hard like this, they can score important goals for the season.”
Roberto Mancini insisted he wasn’t focused on Premier League standings or how faraway his side was from Manchester United. The Italian manager believes his side will seek motivation from the way they won the Premier League title last season.
The Premier League champions are renowned for scoring goals in the dying moments of the game. Late goals from Edin Dzeko and Sergio Aguero were the reason Manchester City were able lift the Premier League title last season.
