The Sarah Palin hockey curse is, without question, completely and totally real. As you know, she dropped the opening puck to start the Flyers season, and until Friday night, they were winless.
So you may be wondering, why were the Flyers suddenly able to win? Well, because they finally managed to pawn Palin off on some unfortunate other team. Friday, Palin dropped the opening puck for the St. Louis Blues, and as you can guess, they lost. Actually, they got killed, losing 4-0.
But this time the Palin curse also delivered yet another blow. Unbelievably, Blues goalie Manny Legace actually injured himself on the red carpet laid out for Palin for the puck drop.
Just before the ceremony, Legace was the first player onto the ice for St. Louis. A team official pointed to the carpet. But Legace said the official moved his own foot from the carpet just as Legace stepped down, causing the carpet to slide.
Legace fell, then gingerly made his way to the crease.
"I felt a pull right away," Legace said. "I was hoping it would just go away."
Except it didn't. Legace wound up with a hip flexor injury that worsened after his first save. He gave up 2 goals in 12 shots in the first period before he had to be pulled because of the injury. On top of all that, he's also not going to play today against Florida and could be out even longer.
So, to recount, the Flyers were winless in six games before they got Palin to drop the puck for the Blues. And since Palin's Blues puck drop, the Blues are obviously 0-1. So the Palin hockey curse toll is now at 7 winless games and one injured goalie. That's more than a curse, that's a path of destruction.
Seriously, any other team out there, do not let this woman come to your arena and drop a puck. At the rate this is going, your best player will somehow get beheaded in the process.
