Manny Ramirez Crushes Mike Mussina, Joe Girardi [MLB Wake-Off]

Every morning wake up to some MLB roundupness...

If Joe Girardi's honeymoon wasn't already over after the first pitch of the season, it's definitely over after yesterday's loss to Boston.

In the 4th inning, Manny Ramirez took Mike Mussina deep (above) - that might be an understatement - to give the Sox an early lead. Two innings later, they faced off again with runners on 2nd and 3rd and two outs after David Ortiz looked lost again.

Do you:

a) Walk Ramirez who just crushed your last pitch
b) Bring in Joba Chamberlain
c) Pitch to him

Two of those would have been good decisions. Girardi went with the other option.  Manny doubled, driving in the go ahead runs and the Red Sox held on for a 4-3 win.

Phillies 7, Cubs 1 Every time you bring up booing the a Philly fan they get upset about the label, as if it's over blown. Sometimes I agree with that ... but after these last two Cubs games, they label is strong as ever. MVP Jimmy Rollins has been out a minor injury the last few games, so in steps Eric Bruntlett. A back-up with no chance of replicated Rollins value. How do Philly fans treat him? By booing every out. Sure, his .105 batting average isn't great, but good grief cut the guy a little slack.

In other news, Ted Lilly sucks.

White Sox 7, Tigers 0
The South Siders now lead the league in almost no-hitters. John Danks took a perfect game well into a start last week. Yesterday, Gavin Floyd took a no hitting into the 8th inning. Needless to say, the two "x-factors" for the Sox are delivering. Edgar Renteria broke up the no-no with one out in the 8th and the Tigers would get just one more hit. The Epic Fail continues .

Braves 10, Nationals 2
Jeff Francoeur with a huge evening - 2 HR, 7 RBIs. Remember that one time when the Nats started the season 3-0 ... yeah, well they're 3-9 now. Go back to your home.

Diamondbacks 10, Rockies 3
This Justin Upton kid is sort of, kind of, good. 20-years-old, youngest in the bigs, currently leads the league in HRs.

Athletics 7, Indians 3 Break up the A's. A day after knocking around C.C. Sabathia the no-namers battered Fausto Carmona. Well, they didn't so much knock him around as he ruined it himself with 8 WALKS.
