Manny Ramirez Gets A Haircut, Trims Dreadlocks About An Inch
Dreadlock Deadlock Ends, Sort Of

As soon as Manny Ramirez arrived in Los Angeles, Joe Torre kindly demanded that he cut his hair. However, I think what Torre had in mind was a little more substantial that what Manny came to the ballpark with Thursday night.

Leave it to Manny to interpret his discussion with his manager by his own rules.

Ramirez DID cut his dreadlocks, but only just an inch
. Go figure. Maybe he needed a bathroom break and it cut the barber visit short? We'll never know.

Torre still seemed satisfied by "the process."

"He took a little bit off," Torre said. "In the initial meeting I had with him when I said, 'How important is your hair?' He said, 'You want me to cut it?' I said, 'Well, I'd like you to clean it up a little bit.' I think he was within the rules of cleaning it up a little bit."

Torre left room for possibly asking Ramirez to get another haircut down the road by saying, "Like Billy Crystal said in 'Analyze That,' 'It's a process.'

Isn't it always with Manny.

Not that Manny would follow through on the deal, but I'd advise Torre to bet Manny that he only gets to keep his hair if the Dodgers make the playoffs.

Although, it's not like Torre should want to change what's working. Manny is batting .477 with three doubles, five homers, 16 RBIs in 12 games since becoming a Dodger.

I think the Dodgers should just be happy Manny can find the stadium.

Torre is an idiot for even asking Manny to do that.  I'm glad Manny showed him up by doing that.

Well Torre was in NY for awhile and they had that same policy. If the manager wants you to cut your hair then DO IT! Someone getting paid millions should not be so possessive with their hair. Johnny Damon did it without complaining, why cant Manny? Is he bigger than everyone else? Its also about respect in the locker room and maintaining that coach to player relationship with all players. Now Torre is in the "process" of losing control

Poor Manny-He was asked to show some respect and adhere to the club rules? Get out! What is the world of sports coming to when they ask of their million dollar athletes to show some respect and adhere to the rules. <ahhh..please note the hint of sarcasm of course>

Since the day it was discovered that he has the talent that he does he has never had to follow a rule.  As with most athletes, especially the good/great ones, the rule set is different, if there is one at all.  In this case Manny being Manny is just Manny being another spoiled athlete.
