Manti Te'o runs 40 yard dash in 4.71 seconds at Notre Dame pro day

Manti Te'o improved his 40 time, is now upgraded from "really slow" to "pretty slow"

Mar 26, 2013; South Bend, IN, USA; Notre Dame Fighting Irish former player Manti Te'o participates in drills during Notre Dame pro day at the Loftus Center. Mandatory Credit: Matt Cashore-USA TODAY SportsManti Te'o was surprisingly slow at the NFL Draft Combine, and had a chance to redeem himself yesterday at his Notre Dame Pro Day.

Still, Te'o ran a 4.71-second 40 yard dash, which still places him among the slower linebackers projected in the top of the draft. It's a slight improvement, however, over his 4.82-second time that he recorded at the combine.

He was pleased with his performance, and there are still whispers that he could be selected in the 20-25 range in the draft. This is still a far cry from the top 5, which was where he was originally projected months ago.

Mel Kiper says Te'o will go 19th, and Todd McShay has him going with the 32nd pick. That's quite a spread, but it only takes 1 team to fall in love with him.

If Te'o is selected in the 1st round, he'll be the only linebacker selected in the first since 2010 with slower than a 4.70 forty time.

Do you think the slight improvement will result in a 1st round opportunity for Te'o? Or will he slide, thanks to his fake girlfriend saga and his still relatively slow time?

Where would you take Te'o, if you were an NFL team? Would you take him at all?

Te'o will not get out of the first round. It is a good thing for Te'o that football isn't played in spandex running 40 yards at a time. Because you are right, he wouldn't stand a chance. But if you look at his times in the other drills that test a linebackers ability to react to cuts and moves made by RB's his times are very good. With Lewis retiring and Ellerbe signing as a UFA with the Dolphins. I don't see any way possible that the Ravens let him by them in the first round, if he is still there.
