Was Manti Te'o having long phone conversations with a man the whole time?
He was on the phone with a man, who was pretending to be a woman.
For hours. On many, MANY phone calls.
This raises many questions, not only about Te'o and his gullibility, if he was spent hours on the phone with someone and couldn't even determine their gender, but also with Ronaiah Tuiasosopo, the man who was on the line with Te'o.
Why was he pretending to be a woman, just to engage in long phone calls with the Notre Dame linebacker?
There were over 1,000 calls that added up to more than 500 hours on the phone.
And the whole time, Te'o was talking to a man, who was pretending to be a woman.
It's absolutely insane.
Apparently Tuiasosopo has some serious mental issues, and felt as though he needed some sort of deep, intimate relationship with Te'o. He knew that Te'o wouldn't be all that open to the idea of engaging in that sort of relationship with another man, so he posed as a woman.
You might think it's surprising that Notre Dame didn't catch on to any of this when they did their investigation. But as it turns out, their investigation was as much of a hoax as Lennay Kekua.
Their investigators didn't speak to Te'o. They didn't speak to anyone in the Te'o family. They made no attempt to talk to Tuiasosopo, or anyone in his family either.
That doesn't sound like much of an investigation if you ask me. You might think the school was simply out to protect Te'o and his good name, instead of actually finding out the truth.
As I've said before... at the very least, and now Te'o has admitted this, he lied on multiple occasions in order to keep the story going. This was a story that was the backbone of his Heisman campaign.
Even in the best case scenario, Te'o lied to protect his Heisman campaign, and Notre Dame conducted a sham of an investigation to "protect" Te'o.
It's time to stop feeling sorry for Te'o. Maybe he got duped, but he duped you, too.
