Manu Ginobili Out a Few Weeks
After receiving a charlie horse last Friday against the Los Angeles Clippers, San Antonio guard, Manu Ginobili, landed awkwardly on his leg simultaneously tweaking his hamstring. The current report is that the fragile shooting guard may now be out longer than expected. Manu has already missed 14 games this season, but he may now miss the rest of the regular season due to his latest injury.
“It’s more than days,” coach Gregg Popovich said. “It’s more like weeks, unfortunately. It’s a huge blow for us because he’s the guy that allows our second team to do what they’ve been doing all year long. It’s a huge loss for that group, and in game situations, it’s a tough one because he’s one of two guys, he and Tony (Parker), are the creators who make things happen for everybody else on the court. It’s an unfortunate loss at this point of the season…”
When Pop was asked whether or not Manu’s injury could stretch into the playoffs, he replied, “It could. We don’t know how his leg is going to react. We’re doing everything we can.”
Manu has historically taken a large chunk of games to get back into rhythm after sitting out large chunks of time. If he isn’t able to return a game or two prior to the playoffs, it’s possible that his rustiness may do more damage to the second unit than help it.
