Ever wondered where your favorite team's fan base begins and ends?

The folks over at the NY Times have created a pretty incredible map that shows baseball fanhood based on zip code.

The cool part about this map is that it shows exactly what regions "belong" to each MLB team, and where the lines are drawn between places like "Red Sox Nation" and the "Evil Empire."

They go into some solid in-depth analysis of the map, showing the delineation between various districts.

Did you know that the Athletics and Mets don't have any places where their team is the primary rooting interest? The Giants and Yankees are just too dominant.

Possibly the most interesting section was Ohio, where there are 5 different teams with significant fan bases. Check it out:

Being of a cartographic mind set, I found that map fascinating.  And obviously those lines are in flux season to season given the fickle nature of most fans.
