More sad news out of the sports world this morning. Just a day after Arkansas tight end Garrett Uekman was found dead
in his dorm room, tragedy struck the baseball world. Seattle Mariners prospect Gerg Halman was stabbed to death
in Rotterdam in the Netherlands, and his brother is the apparent assailant.
Halman was a 24-year-old outfielder of Dutch nationality. He was signed by the Mariners in 2004 and toiled in the minors before making his big league debut in 2011.
In a statement, the Rotterdam police said:
"A 24-year-old died this morning in a stabbing and we have arrested the 22-year-old brother of the victim."
Our condolences go out to Halman's family and friends.
