Mark Teixeira Trade to Atlanta Braves Is Done, Pending Medical Review
7/30/07
The 117th report of the Mark Teixeira deal being finished appears to actually be official. Ken Rosenthal says it's finally done. It's silly to ask who got the better end of the deal. Rangers win game of Scrabble, Braves win the trade easily. The Braves are on the verge of acquiring Rangers first baseman Mark Teixeira. The deal is done, pending a review of the medical records of the players involved, according to major-league sources.
The Braves will receive Teixeira and left-handed reliever Ron Mahay.
The Rangers will receive catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia, Class A shortstop Elvis Andrus and two pitching prospects.
The NL Wild Card race is going to be spectacular. I'd expect the Mets, Phillies and Padres all to make additional moves, and probably the Cubs as well.
