Mark Teixiera Called Out By New York Media For Sucking In Postseason
The New York Media Welcomes Mark Teixiera Home
The New York Yankees are currently up 3-2 in the World Series, and it seems like the team that has a higher GDP than the Central African Republic will finally win another title. But don't tell that to the New York media. No sir.

This was the sports section cover today for the NY Daily News, which was all too happy to point out what a miserable postseason Mark Teixiera has had.

I can't wait to see the headlines if the Phillies actually come all the way back and win this thing.

Good thing there wasn't a guy two batters in front of him that had a rally killing ground into double play.  Oh wait, that was Derek Jeter.

The NY papers have got to be the worst.

That laughter you hear is A-Rod, giggling over the fact that he's not the one getting that treatment (and the fact that he's nailing Kate Hudson and Texeira's not, so there!)

It kinda reminds me of the time they bashed A-Rod for not coming up big in the playoffs... despite the fact that he had something like 15 game-winning RBI in the regular season.

Replace Teixeira with an average player, and the Yankees might not have won the division. Things would be much different. New Yorkers see what they want to see. Derek Jeter is ten times more overpaid than Mark Teixeira could ever be.

it's a good thing they didn't make that team loss a personal issue. oh wait. that's exactly what they did.

Yeah, wait and see when Tex steps up in Game 6. Let's not forget he has been OUTSTANDING WITH HIS GLOVE, hit a walk-off in the ALDS, drew some key walks, and has had some key hits when we needed it. So what, he struck out last night..you can't expect the Yankees to climb back like that every time. I've been watching this shit happen all season... At this point wiether he hits or not, he is certainly a threat and is protecting the RED HOT Johnny Damon. Expect Damon and/or Tex to go YARD in Game 6. I won't be surprised if they both.

if tex were to hit the game winner in game 6, he would be treated like a god when he returned to NY, and thisheadline would be forgotten into oblivion. the NY media needs to make up their minds.

Does anyone actually watch these games and take note of the stellar plays that he makes in the field every single game?! He makes Ryan Howard look like even more of a bozo than he is. Tex made at least 3 great plays yesterday saving runs with 2 of them. Howard fields a ball that he should have let go foul, then instead of walking towards Johnny Damon and tagging him out, turns his back to a slow runner on third, touches first, then turns to second, all before even thinking about checking Hinske at third who has now crawled home.

Let be honest, Tex has not been great in the post season, but he had a silly regular season that helped them get where they are, and he is one of the best defensive first basemen since the big cat retired. Would the new york media prefer Jason Giambi come back from the Rockies? I doubt it...

If it weren't for A-Rod benefiting from a camera named Jeff Maier, then he would still be the whipping boy of the media. Doesn't seem to me that Tex has been the problem for this team

The sad part about it is they are taking it easy on him.

Again you with the played out comments.  A-Roid? Are you 12 years old? And who the hell said these people were Yankee fans? I don't hear any Yankee fans bashing Tex.

The hell are you talking about? A-Rod did not benefit from anything because the ball was out regardless.  Try to keep up.  If the ball goes over the fence it's a homerun.

If it were a fan it would have been ruled fan interference and a double. in 96 you guys benefitted from fan interference, and basically the same thing happened again. I know the umpires came to a decision, but like so many others, it was the wrong one

I agree, 181M is waaaayyyy too much to pay for Tex. Perhaps this will teach the Yankees not to overspend.... not.

The New York media is out of control.  If Mike Lupica thinks he can hit a baseball then he should step in to the batters box and put his pen down.  you can't come up big in every single at bat.
