Marquette vs. BYU [Game info and open thread]
The Golden Eagles, (25-7) spent much of the season in the nation's top-10, though they enter the tournament having lost two of their last three games. Marquette boasts as much star power as any team in the nation, with two certifiable senior studs in Big East Player of the Year Jae Crowder and guard Darius Johnson-Odom. Johnson-Odom is the team's leading scorer, and was second in the Big East at 18.5 points per game. Crowder is an under-sized forward at 6-foot-6, but he knows how to position himself well and averaged 17.4 points and a team-leading 8.1 rebounds per game.
The Cougars (26-8) will likely come into this game a bit worn out, having come back from a 25-point deficit to beat Iona 78-72 in an NCAA Tournament play-in game on Tuesday in Dayton, Ohio. In the game, BYU got huge performances from their two top players, Noah Hartsock and Brandon Davies. Hartsock had 23 points and Davies had 18 points and 15 rebounds. The Cougars run a very efficient offense--they pass the ball well, rebound the ball well, and are a incredibly high-scoring offense (13th nationally). They finished third in the West Coast Conference behind St. Mary's and Gonzaga.
